Welcome to Friends of Franklin Square, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing you with a safe and attractive park experience in the Northeast Mission. On this site, you will find information about several ongoing projects in the park. Please visit often to find out about updates and news.
If you’d like to contribute, there are countless opportunities for volunteering, from monthly clean-up days, to fundraising, to organizing events, creating an off-leash dog play area, and maintaining the soccer field.
We Need Your Letter of Support to Secure Grant Funding
We need your help to secure competitive grant funding. The Community Opportunity Fund Grant Application is due soon and we need you to tell the story of our community and why the City should invest in our neighborhood park.
Write your letter of support Click Here. Tell us why the City should invest in Franklin Square to activate and improve the park along Bryant Street. Whether its activating the park in order to improving park safety or wanting a place to play with your dog off-leash, let us know. Details about yourself and how you use Franklin Square are highly encouraged!

To summarize our grant proposal that was developed through several community meetings, we would like to:
- build a new fenced in dog play area
- install more park lighting
- repairing the fitness walking path
- trim the tree grove and remove any dangerous trees
- add landscaping

We accomplished so much in 2014 thanks to your support and the hard work of our many volunteers. Saturday, April 4, 10 a.m.-Noon Easter Egg Hunt STARTS at 10:00 AM (Don’t be Late!!) In collaboration with Trumark Urban, Friends of Franklin Square invites the community to join us for a FREE Easter Egg Hunt followed by children’s activities in the playground. Light refreshments provided! Come and see our grant proposal to improve Franklin Square by adding a new fenced in dog play area with improvements to the fitness path. Join us Saturday, November 23 at 10 AM for the dedication of the Brotherhood of Man mural. Come and meet your neighbors at Franklin Square Park. The community celebration and dedication of the Brotherhood of Man mural is hosted by Friends of Franklin Square Park, the Arts Commission and Recreation and Park Department.
